My daughter gave this picture to me a year ago at Christmas. I was delighted with it. She wasn’t. She kept saying that she wished she had done some parts of it different. Recently, she was feeling better with her physical challenges and asked me to bring the picture home.
Taking it out of the frame [...]

Beautiful Evening in the Woods

I was going to go out this morning, but rain made that impossible. Instead went out tonight at 6 to where I thought some birds might be going to roost. Had seen a big tom here earlier in the week. The wonderful hike through the woods was uneventful. Nothing answered the crow call. Finally came [...]

What a hilarious time last week at our church. The Pioneer Club kids put on a great show of singing, acts, and dancing. The best part: THE APPLAUSE! Each song, and talent was greeted by the cheers of everyone there. It was heart warming.
We live in a world of competition. It [...]

Two baby girls were born a few years back. One of June 15, 1961 the other on July 1, 1961. The one became a princess the other has never been kissed. For a long time one would have thought that luck had only smiled on one. The difficulty is in deciding upon which one luck [...]

I looked in my neighbor’s yard and saw a wondrous sight. The flowering crab tree was exploding in beauty. I began to notice all kinds of trees in my neighborhood that were full of blossoms and the stunning announcement of spring.
The thought crossed my mind no one owns the bloom. You may own the tree, [...]

Some things don’t taste as good as they look. We had a feast on Easter, and everything looked beautiful. We sat down as a family and enjoyed the meal, and all was delicious. Unlike this morning when a coyote came to where I was waiting for a turkey. He circled my [...]
Sunrise Surprise!

Today was a cloudy day, but the sunrise was a beautiful orange and red. I sat down along a rock wall with the decoys out in front. I didn’t look real close at the place where I sat down, and after a couple of minutes realized I was setting on top of some rodent who [...]
First Hunt of the Season

Today was opening day and I hunted less today than any year since I began (except in years I killed a bird at flydown). The morning was uneventful except for three jakes that came into my decoy. They seemed bewildered at the prospect of what to do with the little miss! Tried to take pictures [...]

The invitation came last week. I am going to have to show it to my brother today. It is an invitation to our 30th class reunion. Neither of us have ever attended one of the others in the last 30 years. Now I am going to need to go just to verify that I am still [...]

S
uppose you knew someone who you really loved and they had a birthday on Sunday. Suppose you bought them a gift before then and hid it, and then gave it to them on their birthday. When did you actually pay for the gift? The answer is obvious. No matter when the gift is given, it [...]
