Amazing! I thought they were make believe the first time I saw them. They are views from the Hubble satelite. Take a look at these images from Hubble!
In a word the Bible says, “The heavens declare the Glory of God.” Some might say to this, “Far out man.” Okay God gives you a second option. In Psalm 8 we are told, ”From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.” If the distant stars can’t overwhelm you with wonder of God’s creator power, how about the tiny bundle of a new born baby?
God gives abundant beauty in the smallest of details and the largest of wonders. Just who is He trying to impress? First, He can’t help himself. He is infinitely creative and He paints and sculpts for the sheer wonder of who He is. Yet, He has chosen to reveal to us His creation. Giving men the minds to design and build the Hubble telescope to unveil hidden gems in galaxies formerly unseen. He also has made man able to reproduce, not exact replicas of themselves, but ideally blendings between two people who love each other. Just enough of both to remind them of themselves and the one they cherish.
Because, God said, “Let us make man in our image.” I know He understands the joy that comes to our hearts when we see a new creation that is like unto us. The whole issue is that we might look up at the stars or down into our arms and in both see God’s hand. Infinite care, intricate creation, reveal a God with deep desire to be known by us. “O Lord, OUR Lord, how excellent is your name in all the earth.”
Pretty cute little one you used in this post! I enjoyed these thoughts, thanks.
This was very good – thanks for sharing your thoughts and thanks for telling me to look at the blog for I usually don’t roam around doing things like this.
That baby looks like a Gelatt.
this is a cute babie and thanks for sharing thouts
Sorry guy, don’t confuse Coincidence with God
Coincidence and beauty are difficult partners. How often do you spill paint and end up with a Reimbrandt?
there are no coincidences
Thankyou so much for that always needed praise of our father.
Your exactly right when you outline that you don’t have to look very far to see the wonders of God. Yea!!!!
Acts 14:17 reminds us that “God did not leave Himself without witness”. This is another great witness, of a huge number of witnesses, to God’s great, eternal power.
But, “A fool says in his heart ‘there is no God’” (Ps. 14:1)
Are your musings limited to the Christian God? Because, I’m Jewish, and I like my God, and I think she (or he) is pretty damn awesome to have made and let us discover Her (or His) wonders. I don’t quite agree that Coincidence and Beauty don’t often go together, and I’m of the personal opinion that Science and God should. Then again, define Coincidence.
Great question! My musings are not limited by the “Christian” God. He is limitless!
I would say that the God I speak of is the God of the Bible who is the same God as the God of Israel. When he speaks in the Torah or the New Testament as the Christians call it. He is revealing his nature and character. I must accept that His own revelation about Himself is not a lie and is therefore accurate.
To define coincidence with this in mind. The God of the Bible clearly states that all things are with and for his purposes. Therefore they are only coincidental from our perspective.
In a personal way I often here people say, “small world” when they are amazed by a coincidental meeting with another person. I like to reply, “No, Big God!” Our Big God does things beyond what anyone else could ever plan or think. Have a great day, and thanks for visiting.
Brian
You are hillarious.
I would rather read someone’s insight about the science of what we are looking at in the image – composition, dimensions, distance, time, etc. In the face of an incredible sight, why do we feel the need to stop thinking and surrender to the mythology of Christianity? We should attempt to understand what we are looking at and not take refuge in ideas we can’t explain.
By the way, the verb is “sculpt,” not “sculpters,” and you mean to say “themselves,” not “theirselves.”
Rob,
Thanks for the helpful editing comments. Sorry, but I am not a great scientist. I do think you ought to reconsider your lack of faith in God as you well noted some things are beyond human understanding and yet you clearly believe they can be understood. Who then does understand? I have a suggestion, but then again you think it a myth. Claiming ignorance by your own admission is not a good idea.
I welcome more discussion if you would like.
